Xbox Live - Collapse! finally falls onto the Marketplace

Logic puzzles, physics puzzles… It’s been a while since we’ve seen a straight up match-3 puzzle game released to Xbox Live. That changes today, now that Collapse! - the game that sent some of our more hardcore readers into fits of rage - is now available on the Marketplace.

In GameHouse’s Collapse!, lines of colored blocks slowly rise from the bottom of the screen. Players simply tap groups of three or more same-colored blocks to clear them, which in turn causes other blocks to fall or… COLLAPSE!!!1! I’m not being sarcastic; I just wanted to type it that way. Exclamation marks in titles get my adrenaline pumping, ya know? Anyway, the game’s tap-tap rhythm makes it easy to pick up and play on the go. Gamers who need goals and variety aren’t out of luck, as the extensive Adventure mode contains all kinds of twists on the standard gameplay.

WP7 to feature Gameboy emulator [Homebrew]

You could well have Pikachu following Ash around Pallet Town soon enough with the actively developed project Wario's Jewels 7 (WJ7), the first Windows Phone 7 Gameboy emulator. XDA Developers Forum member Badcam3 is collaborating with other developers including Samuel Blanchard to turn this idea into reality.

We know Microsoft doesn't play ball with emulators in the Marketplace (for a good number of reasons), but this is the first sign of light for the homebrew community. Twin Blades Updated, Returns to Windows Phone

One of the early Xbox Live games to make it to Windows Phone was actually removed from the Marketplace due to its violent nature. "Twin Blades" was never removed from the iPhone App Store even though the Windows Phone version is basically the same game. I've had the original game on my Windows Phone for a while and have been very careful not to do any hard resets since that would mean losing the game. Today, I was suprised to see an update for my Twin Blades that I had bought so long ago. It would appear that the update has made some changes that should hopefully reverse the mature content rating that caused it to get pulled in the first place.

Microsoft Announces Eight New Xbox Live Games For Windows Phone

Yesterday wasn't only about Apple and its new iOS 5 mobile platform refresh as Microsoft, taking part at the E3 expo in Los Angeles, California, has announced a total number of eight Windows Phone 7 Xbox Live games arriving in the coming months.

All of them feature Xbox LIVE achievements and leaderboards and they are: Beards and Beaks, Hasta la Muerte, Let's Golf 2, Pac-Man CE DX, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction, Tentacles, Top Gun and Z0mb1es. There's something for everyone here and Redmond even put together a teaser video with short clips out of every game so you know what to expect when they start appearing in the Marketplace.

A couple of upcoming Windows Phone 7 games are referenced inside Microsoft's coverage of Inside Xbox Event with information and even demo of the upcoming Xbox Live enabled titles.

Doodle Jump and Fable Coin Golf are just a couple of them. We know Angry Birds and Plants vs Zombies are coming in the next period so there will be a lot of exciting gaming titles to choose from. Full House Poker has been just released to the Marketplace a couple of days ago and with so many games, we wonder whether there will ever be a demand for a slide-out game controller device, The Xbox Phone. Microsoft could certainly take that into consideration (at 9:30 marker).

Angry Birds headed to Windows Phone 7 in spring

Rovio's hit game Angry Birds is landing on Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 platform in "late spring," along with five other titles beginning on a weekly basis.

Microsoft announced the title's inclusion as part of its Spring Showcase event, taking place today in San Francisco.

Looks like for some reason we're down to just one title a week on Xbox LIVE for Windows Phone. Perhaps Microsoft wanted to burn through those 50 titles as quickly as possible and now we're on the "regular" schedule. Either way, this weeks title is a puzzler type game from GameHouse called TikiTowers.

Chicks n Vixens: Working its way through Beta

A week or so ago, Jabborworx released the Windows Phone 7 game Chicks n Vixens. The game was released as a Beta and while the first version of the game was a little on the rough side, two updates have polished the Windows Phone game up nicely. Graphics have improved, load times quicker, and overall performance is better. Additional updates are in line that will add more features and clean things up even further.

So for all of us that were hoping that Microsoft and Bungie were secretly working on a Halo-port, we can probably stop now, or at least diminish it a bit. According to CVG, Bungie put out a job request for a senior mobile application programmer to startup their mobile gaming entry to the market:

It's an important time in any young OS's life: NES emulation. Windows Phone 7 has just passed this important puberic milestone, thanks to the hard work of Matt Bettcher. Unfortunately, Microsoft doesn't seem to recognize the significance, and is keeping the emulator out of the Marketplace (as per its no-funny-business terms of service).
