Windows Phone 7 Details Leaked

Microsoft will own your phone

PERENNIAL MOBILE ALSO-RAN Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 Series specifications have been splayed all over the Internet.

Dutch website Tweakers.net got hold of documents about the architectural details underpinning the Windows Phone 7 operating system.

The dossier from February was on its third revision and came with a standard issue disclaimer regarding its contents, "The Architecture for Windows Phone OS 7.0 describes features that are subject to change, and should therefore be considered preliminary."

Microsoft said its next phone OS will require a Qualcomm Snapdragon ARM processor and it wants manufacturers to build phones with multi-touch, a camera button and two volume buttons. Performance phones will have 800x480 rather than 480x320 displays for the basic configuration and a "gesture interface", which we assume relates to multi-touch functionality.

However, in a bid to tie its users in to its own mobile delivery system, Microsoft will be forcing users to sign up for Windows Live. So if you want a Windows Phone 7 phone, you will have to set up and register a Windows Live account. Like Apple and Google, Microsoft wants to run its own phone ecosystem. ยต
