Windows Phone 7 Tablet Concept Seen

Share

Freelance designer Umang Dokey has released images and a video of a tablet concept running the Windows Phone 7 Series OS. The concept has an 8” capacitive touch screen, joysticks on the back for navigation and gaming, a couple of webcams for “3D” videoconferencing and a funky fold-out stand at the back that doubles as a keyboard when folded forward.

It’s an interesting concept but primarily for showing us precisely what Windows Phone 7 OS might look like on a tablet. I must say I’m not overwhelmed, software-wise. While I absolutely love and adore Microsoft’s new mobile operating system, this concept, for me anyway, demonstrates that it’s really better on smaller screens. I’ll leave you all to make up your own minds however and would be interested in your comments.

The other great tablet concept around at the moment is also from Microsoft, and it’s Courier device that’s aimed at being a portable notebook, pretty much getting back to the portable digital assistant concept of the late 1980’s. Courier is slated (sic!) for a product launch late in 2010. It will be interesting to see if Windows Phone 7 OS also makes its way onto this form-factor.
